PowerLunch: Cultural Due Diligence

Cultural Due Diligence

Powerlunch is a BEROCC branded event which is gathering a limited number (max 20) of members & non-members, during a networking lunch.
The Key Speaker is invited to present a theme on a current business or public issue, based on the interest and / or request of BEROCC members, in order to empower Belgian-Romanian businesses.

“Acknowledge cultural differences but simultaneously create a common corporate culture with a single goal: achieving high performance.

Successful cross-border M&As are often those that embrace cultural diversity as a creative and fertile source of positive new ‘ways of doing things’ and go on to create a ‘third culture’ that is shared by all employees and embraced by external stakeholders. Awareness of language, cultural values, attitudes and behaviors are critical success factors of the integration process.

In teamwork where a team consists of different cultures, fusion is based on two fundamental elements of collaboration: coexistence of differences and meaningful participation.
Fusion is an entirely new concept. It is not intuitive, because it is complex.

As companies seek to grow their business, their common strategy is to merge with or acquire a new company. Given the stress and expense involved in this process, corporations understand the importance of making an informed decision. But even when financial due diligence processes are followed perfectly, a significant portion of these mergers and acquisitions fail to meet the performance expectations. Why is that?”

We will reveal the complexity of the Cultural Due Diligence during February Powerlunch and questions will be answered based on the extensive experience of our Key Speaker – Irina Budrina.

Dr. Irina Budrina has a degree in Psychology from Moscow State University, Master’s degree from EMBA program Temple University Japan-USA and PhD from ASE (Romania). She worked with INSEAD Global Leadership Center as well as with International Companies on Intercultural Communication and Cross-Cultural Adaptation.
